I am a wife, mother, and chiropractor. Our family recently relocated to Ocala, FL from the suburbs of Chicago, IL. We are getting acquainted with the area and love all that it has to offer our family. I look forward to impacting the lives within this beautiful area. My vision is to give you the gift of health. I have been in the healthcare field for many years giving hope to couples facing infertility. I have been involved in the special needs community for several years as well. I hold these groups dear to my heart. Knowing and seeing the amount of heartache surrounding infertility for so many couples has allowed me to understand the importance of offering chiropractic care during this difficult time. Special needs children have always been a passion for me. I taught gymnastics for many years and had several special needs classes during that time.
Seventeen years ago, I gave birth to my little “zebra.” In healthcare, a zebra is anybody who has rare medical conditions. My husband and I welcomed our daughter into the world with expectations and hopes that she would be healthy and happy. Within hours of delivery, we found out she had a condition called aniridia which means “loss of iris.” She was born with an underdeveloped iris (colored part of the eye). She has very low vision with cataracts. However, it doesn’t stop there. We had genetic testing confirming she had a rare syndrome called WAGR syndrome just one month after she was born. WAGR stands for Wilms tumor, Aniridia, Genitourinary issues, and Range of delays or Renal failure. Our little girl has survived Wilms tumor when she was 3 years old. During that time, she underwent surgery to remove her right kidney, chemotherapy, and radiation. The chemotherapy was tough on her, and she developed neuropathy which left her unable to walk for several months. Being that she was so delayed prior to chemotherapy, she was now even further behind.
Currently, she is developmentally at the level of a 3 year old, and she was given an autism diagnosis several years ago. She loves life, country music, and books! My life changed when we decided to take her for chiropractic care when she was 7 years old. We had been dealing with severe meltdowns consisting of headbanging, biting, and scratching for hours upon hours each day. My husband and I were unsure what we could do to help her. Within 3 months of care, Kadina’s negative behavior had decreased by 70%! We have continued weekly care to maintain her ability to heal. She may never catch up to her chronologically aged peers, but she is making huge strides. Kadina has 2 younger brothers who support her in every thing she does. Chiropractic has transformed our lives, and my hope is that it will transform your life so you may live life to your fullest potential.
